Apple Pot Pie is where comfort food meets dinner-party-worthy dessert. All the elements can be made ahead for easy entertaining.

– apples – brown sugar – apple cider  – bourbon (optional) – salt – cinnamon – vanilla bean – cornstarch – puff pastry – egg

Ingredients

Cook the apples until crisp-tender. Add cornstarch to thicken the juice.

Divide the apples between the ramekins, or use one large casserole dish. Brush the edges with egg to hold the pastry in place as it bakes.

Place a dough round on each ramekin. Cut a slit in the top for steam to escape as it bakes.

Bake the pot pies on a sheet pan to catch any boil overs. Serve warm from the oven.
